Google Camera and its post-processing algorithms undoubtedly changed the game in terms of what we expect from smartphone cameras, elevating the Google Pixel lineup to some of the best Android phones for photography on the market for several years. That's the exact reason why Google Camera ports are so highly requested for non-Google devices.

Note that the devices listed below are sorted alphabetically by name. Some of the linked threads may not be from the corresponding device forum. This is not a mistake, as many ports work on multiple devices. We simply linked to a thread where you can download the APK(s) and the configuration files.
The Pixel 2's camera is one of the best you'll find on an Android phone. Among its standout features is the incredible Portrait Mode, which Google accomplished with some impressive software processing. Thanks to a few clever developers, you can now enjoy the Pixel 2's Portrait Mode on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8.
Over the weekend, Charles Chow at Chromloop released a port of the Pixel's Portrait Mode camera that works with the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and first-gen Pixel devices. If the developer's name sounds familiar, that's because he's worked this same magic on past Google-exclusive camera features. Now, XDA member Arnova8G2 has modified Chow's Camera NX APK to work on several more phones.
The original modified APK would crash on Galaxy devices running the Android Oreo beta. While the app would install, the photos would not save when snapped in Portrait Mode. Thankfully, Arnova8G2 posted an improved version of the app that enables Portrait mode on both the rear and front-facing cameras for the Snapdragon variants of the S8 and Note 8. There are a few prerequisites, but getting the Pixel 2's Portrait Mode on your new Samsung device is pretty quick.
Once you have Oreo on your device, you can install the ported Pixel camera app, which is called GCMod5. To start, just download the following APK, then open the file from your notification tray and press "Install" when prompted.
Note that if you haven't already done so, you'll need to enable unknown sources to install the APK. When you open the downloaded file, a prompt will pop up asking if you would like to allow installation of this app, so tap to allow and continue installing. After installation, you can find the GCMod5 icon in your app drawer and begin testing!
In addition, the modified Portrait Mode on the Note 8 currently only works with people. The Pixel 2 XL uses additional information from the sensor to apply the portrait effect to photos of other objects. Still, it is clear that you do obtain that impressive bokeh effect when using the rear and front cameras.
Camera specs between the two versions are identical, offering a primary module with 108MP sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and two dedicated tele cameras. Medium-range tele range is covered by a 3x lens with 10MP resolution. For longer distances a 10x periscope-style module is on board.
When taking still images, the camera does overall well and shines, especially in the color category, thanks to accurate and pleasant color rendering. Compared to the Exynos variant, luminance noise is less intrusive but still noticeable. Texture is slightly better as well. Our testers observed ringing artifacts in all conditions and fusion artifacts can appear in high-contrast scenes. Ghosting is better controlled than on the Exynos device, though.
Pictures recorded on the ultra-wide camera show good detail at the center of the frame, but detail gets noticeably softer towards the edges. Color rendering tends to be neutral, but noise is noticeable, even in bright outdoor light.
A zip with configs is provided on the download page (see under the changelog). Extract them, move them to the configs page (again, see the changelog), and load them by double clicking the dark area around the shutter button.
Device restart is known to successfully fix several technical glitches. So turn off your mobile phone. Next, turn it on and after few minutes, click open the Camera app. The camera not working error on Android should be fixed.
i have some Samsung and Huawei Smartphones as hybrid (Management with AzureAD) with a working Place. The issue is with different Smartphones the same. There is no default Camera App in the working profile and i have to download a different Software to solve this problem.
First go in your endpoint under Apps -> Android -> click Add+ -> App Type "Android Enterprise system app" and create e. g. your native Samsung camera app, with the corresponding package name (com.sec.android.app.camera). Then just assign this app to a group you created which includes the specific device. With an android enterprise system app you can only say "required". But if you do this it will automatically install the desired app. This process should also work with a personal owned device with working profile
does this package name "com.sec.android.app.camera" work for all manufacturers or do i need to create differente Apps for Google, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung...? I would like to allow the usage of the system embedded camera.
Currently Intune is not support to add system apps like the system camera or phone app to the work profile. but I think you can vote the following ticket on the Microsoft Intune UserVoice to address and advance this problem.
